Wesley F. Taylor

President/Founder

Coach Wesley F. Taylor has 22+ years coaching experience.  He started coaching in 1984 coaching the men’s basketball team for the United States Air Force at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro, North Carolina.  During this time, he led the team to the division’s championship at Seymour Johnson and to the semi-finals at Fort Lee Air Force Base in Maryland.

After leaving the U.S. Air Force, Coach Taylor moved to Durham, North Carolina and joined the City of Durham Fire Department where he is a retired Fire Technician and Acting Captain.  Even with a restrictive work schedule, Coach Taylor found a way to do what he loves—coach basketball—by working with inner city youth in the Durham community.  In 1998-1999, he coached an AAU girl’s basketball team which traveled all over North Carolina competing.  During 2003-2005, Coach Taylor worked with the Durham Parks and Recreation basketball league and coached two boys’ basketball teams (13-14 and 15-16).  He successfully led the 13-14 boys team to 2nd place in the league (2004) and the 15-16 won the 2005 division title and the overall league championship.

In 2005, Coach Taylor joined the North Carolina Wildcats AAU 9 and under basketball team by way of his son.  Because of his knowledge of the game, he soon was recruited by the head coach to assist the team to make it to the national championship in Orlando, Florida.  Coach Taylor did just that by helping the NC Wildcats AAU 9U basketball team get to the 2006 National Championship games at the Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.  The team did not place; however, the experience will be a positive, life-long memory. He went on to coach several more years in AAU and Durham Parks and Recreation basketball. Currently, Mr. Taylor is the Executive Director of the Mary V. Taylor Foundation, Inc. non-profit organization, where his vision and mission are to build a state-of-the-art facility to work with the total body of our youth through athletics, education, and nutrition.

He is married to Angela Smith Taylor and they have four sons, Jejuan, Stephan, Michael, and Dominic and four grandsons and two granddaughters.
